The Management Unit of the North Sea Mathematical Models (MUMM), department of the Royal Belgian Institute for Natural Sciences, is recruiting a
MARINE RESEARCHER
who will work on research projects in the field of marine ecosystem modelling.
This research has an initial duration of 2 years with probable extension to at least 4 years. Suitable candidates will have, in addition to a university science degree:
— talent for mathematical and computational work — enthusiasm for research and an innovative spirit — strong communication skills.
Experience in mathematical modelling, management of large computer programs and/or marine sciences is an advantage.
The ability to work in French or Dutch and in English is necessary.
The researcher will be based in Brussels (Woluwé Saint Lambert) with typically 5 days per year at sea and 5-15 days per year abroad for workshops, conferences and other meetings.
The salary is defined corresponding to the standard scale for government scientists as given by the Moniteur Belge/Belgisch Staatsblad (http://www.moniteur.be) Royal Decree 20.7.2005 (publication 10.11.2005), with current index = 1.4002.
